Have you ever looked up at the clouds or down at your toast at breakfast or any other random object and thought “hey, that looks like a face?”. Are these faces really there or is something else at play here?
This has happened to me many times and has led me to the question “why do we see faces in random objects?”
Facial perception is extremely important as we rely on this to identify friend from foe and process non-verbal communication.
As a matter of fact we gain the ability to process facial recognition as early as two months of age. Our brains are highly tuned to recognise and process faces. It is for this reason amongst others that causes such phenomenons as seeing faces in inanimate objects. Our minds work overtime and make the necessary links that cause us to see a representation of the human face.
One of the most infamous example of this is in the face we see in a satellite picture of the surface of Mars.
uncanny huh?
Tricks of the mind? or somthing more..
Here are a few of our favourite examples of this, Enjoy.

come say hi to us, though be warned I may be in a massive white bunnysuit LOL ~
see ya on the dance floor!
It was a series of mixed emotions from Happiness to disappointment and all that falls in between. This season of Australians got Talent was one of the best, with the ratings to prove it. In my opinion, mostly due to the new variety of actual Talented acts ranging from the young winner – 14 year old Jack Vigen up to the Senior performers from Benchmark.
As much as I like Jack, I wanted something different from the cliche Singer or Dancer to take the crown. This view is expressed by many but as the show comes down to “votes” not enough people must share my opinion. Many have claimed “its rigged” and that Jack was groomed as a winner from the start.
The validity of this we will never be known but I do know that the production of Singers/Dancers from Talent search shows in my opinion will soon see their demise. I was Very very happy that Australian Magician Cosentino Made is through to finals, and also surprised he pushed all the way through to 2nd place. My jubilation mostly rised from the exposure and what this can possibly do for the Magic community.
What do I mean about the magic community??.. well mainstream audiences experiencing illusion, with a good showman like Cosentino helps open peoples eyes to what we offer, and drives more work for all Professional Magicians within Australia. Why do I think this??.. well imagine a world without David Copperfeild, without Harry Houdini or Lance Burton… the illusion business would definitely be a different one.
I think Cosentino will go on to become a popular magician, and mostly because he can connect well with the young audience. He looks trendy, is polite and doesn’t look like the 70s cliche magician with a top hat stereo type that many performers to this day still personify .
If you would like to book Cosentino for your show, or find out more about him or any of our Magicians feel free to contact us today.
Below is a few pointers of ideas that have worked for Magique in using Magicians at Nightclub events in 2010:
Working the line:
Many Nightclub venues had a line that can see patrons waiting 10-15min+ and whilst it helps to make the venue look busy and worthwhile, it can also irritate the patrons waiting – most can empathize with this.
One of the best ways to shift peoples focus from the wait is to entertain them, and a close up magician is among one of the best forms of workable entertainment with little to no set up needed.
The last thing you want to happen is to have your clientele leave because the line was too long, and subsequently tell their friends that the wait was too long. Although some believe the “crowds bring crowds” theory is what is being used here, you can stagnate a crowd yet keep them amused & entertained and achieve a better overall result
Guests forget they are lining up and passers by noticed that people are happily waiting for what’s inside. The overall experience is better and leaves less bad reviews spread about your club event.
Stage illusions/hypnosis at a Nightclub event.
Firstly, in my opinion Hypnosis shows although amazing to watch, at a nightclub dance event don’t work based on the environment. A large portion of the clientele attend these events to dance & drink and Hypnosis is suitable more for an attentive audience.
In a nutshell, Stage Magic works perfectly is the shows are:
Customized to the genre of music played in the venue. This helps to relate to the clientele and makes the show seamless.
The Magician is experienced with stage illusion and is capable of performing effects that are visual enough for intoxicated people to follow the routine.
Do Not stop the Music. People are dancing and having a great time, a pre consultation between the DJ and Magician can ensure the natural flow of the music into performance ( with MC intro ) can make it all effective.
Ensure the stage is lit up enough, and guests can see, guests get agitated if they cannot see what’s happening.
Close Up magic inside the venue.
This generally seems to only work in the quieter chill out areas, or smoking balconies if applicable. For a Magician to perform close up magic it will hinder their success if the music is cranking and competing with their voice.
Why Magic?
It’s different, fun, and no matter how old or young you are… it fascinates all.
